What is the GProCommission 7 Core Emphases Framework?

The GProCommission 7 Core Emphases Framework for Pastoral Training represents the minimum viability of pastoral effectiveness and areas of competence.

These emphases are not courses but are fields of learning that a pastoral leader must know to be effective.

New and under-trained pastoral leaders are encouraged to develop ministry skills around these 7 Core Emphases namely:

  • Spiritual Maturity
  • Scripture Knowledge
  • Theology Essentials
  • Biblical Preaching
  • Missional Engagement
  • Pastoral Leadership
  • Intentional Discipleship

Maximizing The Use Of The 7 Core Emphases Framework

1. The 7 Core Emphases Framework as a Micro-Curriculum

A significant number of pastoral leaders worldwide lack formal training and rely on nonformal and informal education.

Frequently, these training programs are provided as isolated courses. Although many of these training opportunities are valuable, they often leave pastoral leaders uncertain about their next steps.

The 7 Core Emphases Framework can function as a micro-curriculum for self-trained pastoral leaders.

Here is how it works: Pastoral leaders and trainers may use this simple tool to determine their competency in each of the 7 emphases by using the GProCommission Individual Assessment Matrix

Every pastor leader should strive to be well-trained in all 7 Core Emphases, while pastor trainers or mentors should strive to be a pastor trainer level in at least one of the 7 Core Emphases. 

An online based assessment is also available by clicking the self assessment button above. After completing the assessment a result document will be emailed to you with results (see image right)

As a framework for a micro-curriculum, the 7 Core Emphases can also be used as a tool for curriculum development for nonformal pastor training.

Trainers and mentors may use this simple tool to develop a basic pastor training course.

2. The 7 Core Emphases Framework as a Tool for Collaboration

The 7 Core Emphases Framework can also serve as a tool for collaboration and partnership between formal, nonformal, and informal training initiatives.

 

Some institutions may offer training courses that fill the needs that other trainers cannot offer.

3. The 7 Core Emphases Framework as a Tool for Micro-Validation

Finally, the 7 Core Emphases may also be used as a framework for micro-validation.

How does it work?

Aspiring pastoral leaders and those who are under-trained may register as a student on the GProCourses platform and enroll in the validation course.

Students must present a valid training certificate from a GProCommission-recognized partner institution or trainer for each core emphasis.

After completing all 7 Core Emphases, they will earn a GProCommission Certificate of Completion with a personalized QR code to validate it’s authenticity.
